Our goal is to create furniture that, through its functionality and design, fits in a modern home, and with a very high level of craftsmanship gives the user of the furniture joy for many years to come. We only use the very best materials in the execution of our furniture. All our furniture is manufactured in Odder, Denmark at our own furniture factory and many of our sub-suppliers are located in the local area. The solid wood and veneer are selected with respect and consideration for the environment. The furniture is produced so that the color and structure match in the individual piece of furniture. We cut the individual pieces of wood ourselves to minimize waste and ensure the best utilization of the raw materials. Our furniture is manufactured on advanced machines, but according to classic principles. Drawers are made of solid wood. All furniture parts are polished by hand to ensure a high-quality finish. An ongoing quality control ensures that furniture from Aksel Kjersgaard A/S can be used for many generations

History

The furniture factory was founded in 1952 in Odder by master cabinetmaker Aksel Kjersgaard, who, after working for more than 3 years as a naver(travelling craftman) in Europe and Morocco, wanted to try out his own ideas. In 1955, the production of chests of drawers, mirrors and accountant furniture began. The furniture designed by Kai Kristiansen. In the following years, the furniture factory grew and gained many international customers. In 1973, we started working with the architects Ebbe Gehl and Søren Nissen. In 1989, carpenter Jørgen Kjersgaard, 2nd generation, became master cabinetmaker of the company and has been the owner of the company since 1992. In 1992, we launched a Shaker line in cherry wood designed by Ebbe Gehl and Søren Nissen, which later became the starting point for the Naver Collection. Naver Collection was founded in 1995 by Ebbe Gehl and Søren Nissen, Kristian Vinther, Gramrode Møbelfabrik and Aksel Kjersgaard A/S. Designer Hans Sandgren Jakobsen

The collaboration between Hans Sandgren Jakobsen and Aksel Kjersgaard has started at the cabinetmakers Autumn Exhibition with great passion for the Scandinavian design tradition. It has resulted, among other things, in the creation of the AK 1020 Turning Boxes, which have achieved great international attention and recognition for the sculptural and innovative expression.
